The 3rd Nokia Supernova revealed the Nokia 7610 slider mobile

Nokia recently unveiled the Nokia 7310 Supernova candy-bar mobile phone, and even a Supernova flip mobile phone, well seems Nokia have been keeping a little secret as there is also a third member to the Supernova family and that is the Nokia 7610 Supernova slider form factor mobile phone.

Just like its Supernova relations the Nokia 7610 Supernova slider comes with EDGE data to bring the fastest wireless data speeds, and has S40 running everything. The Nokia 7610 Supernova also shares the same awesome mirrored surfaces, brightly coloured battery covers, and fondness for style.

If you get tired of the look of the Nokia 7610 Supernova there’s no problem either because it brings back the swappable XpressOn cover-plates that Nokia used to be widely known for. The Nokia 7610 Supernova also features a 3.2 megapixel camera with LD flash, FM radio with RDS, 64MB of internal storage and the good old microSD slot.

Size wise the Nokia 7610 Supernova is 98 x 48 x 15mm, and weighs 99 grams, has a QVGA 16 million colours display, and offers up to 5 hours talk time and 300 hours standby time. The Nokia 7610 Supernova is sure to find its place amongst the fashion forward out there, but the lack of 3G and steady reliance on S40 will probably be a deal breaker.

Nokia 7310 Supernova Preview

Details of the upcoming Nokia 7310 Supernova were recently published accidentally by Nokia and then swiftly removed. This attractive looking fashion phone forms part of a rumoured trio of handsets including the 7510 clamshell and 7610 slider phone. Perhaps a successor to the L'Amour series, the Supernova range looks to be much more conventional.

We don't know much about the other two handsets, but we do have very good details of the technical specifications of the Nokia 7310 Supernova itself.

This is a lightweight GSM only device weighing 83 grams and measuring 106.5 x 45.4 x 11.95mm. There's a 2" 240 x 320 pixel display in 16.7 million colours, and the handset runs the familiar Series 40 interface.

Internal memory is 20GB, expandable using microSD cards up to 4GB. On the back is a basic 2 megapixel camera with a video capture resolution of just 176 x 144 pixels at 15 fps. So the 7310 Supernova's camera is not great, but probably good enough for most users.

As well as having a multimedia player that supports MP3, AAC and WMA formats, the Nokia 7310 Supernova also has an FM radio, stereo Bluetooth and a 2.5mm TV/audio output connector. In addition, the 7310 has USB 2.0 connectivity. This means that the Nokia 7310 looks to be a capable music player, although it does lack dedicated media keys. The S40 operating system includes a web browser, email client and the standard Nokia PIM functions, so it will be easy to use but will lack the expandability of an S60 smartphone.

The 860mAh battery gives the 7310 up to 4 hours talktime and 12 days standby time. It uses a pretty standard AC-3X charger, and there's also a stereo wired headset in the box. We're pleased to see a full set of ports on the 7310 rather than the annoying single port on the 6500 Classic which is quite annoying.

No pricing or availability information is currently available, although we think that this will retail at around €150 / £120 / $250, about the same price as the similarly specified but heavier Nokia 6300. There are some rumours that the 7310 is already available in some Asian markets, although we cannot confirm this yet.
