Nokia launching flagship Nokia N96 handset in Q3 2008 alongside Nokia E71 and Nokia E66 business-class cellphones

Still waiting patiently for Nokia to go live with the famed successor to the uber-popular top-of-the-line N-series handset? Sure you are - we're all waiting for Nokia to drop the Nokia N96-bomb. With that incredibly sexy black-gloss finish and backlit keypad, the dual-sliding N96 multimedia monster is set to take the N-series to a higher level with the pace-setting 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss shooter in tow.

So, it's good to finally hear a solid launch window coming out of Nokia. And, it seemNokia N96s that Nokia isn't just going to launch the DVB-H enabled Nokia N96 to play with its 16GB of onboard storage all by its lonesome. No, Nokia is going to be launching the much-anticipated Nokia E66 and Nokia E71 business-oriented cellphones around the same time as the flagship-replacement N96. Apparently, Q3 2008 is the target launch-window for the Nokia N96, E71, and E66.

"We will in the third quarter bring to the market the N96 we have launched and a group of E-series multimedia computers that will be sure to have a strong stamp on where this market is going," Anssi Vanjoki, senior executive vice president of Nokia Markets, told Reuters.

Now, industry sources have also indicated that Nokia will be getting official with the Nokia E71 and Nokia E66 business handsets next week.

We're looking for the Nokia N96 to hit a 550 euros ($870) price-point - which may leave some of you that placed a pre-order for a Nokia N96 feeling a bit remorseful of your hasty purchase decision.

Nokia Unveil One Of The Slimmest Smartphones Around

Nokia, or the cheeky people who leak photos, have been teasing us with snippets of information on the new E71 for a while now and it surely cannot be long before Nokia throw in the towel and give the thing a release date. It’s so close, we can feel it in our palm, so to whet your appetite further, here are the current specs as we know them:
Key features of the Nokia E71

• Full QWERTY keyboard below a 320×240 resolution display.
• A 3.2 megapixel camera.
• Just 10mm thick and weighing 120 grams.
• Assisted GPS built-in.
• Wi-Fi and 3G HSDPA connections give flexibility for fast data transfer.

The Nokia E61 never really challenged for the throne in full QWERTY-keypad-smartphone-land, but the E71 that replaces it looks set to change that with a fantastic design and a thickness of just 10mm – a real rarity in these circles. It looks usable too, with sensibly sized keys and a large, central navigation d-pad to control things. The d-pad surround lights up as an event alert too!

The E71 is a Symbian powered smartphone, so any amount of downloadable goodies are available to users, as is the inclusion of a PDF reader and document viewer to cement the handsets clear business intentions. Of course, POP3 and IMAP email are supported, along with Nokia’s For Mail Exchange and the Blackberry system too if you should want it. Away from the business side, there’s the camera and a music player to keep you occupied. All the early reports on the E71 are favourable, making it look like Nokia have a serious business-phone contender on their hands.

Nokia E66 and E71 Press Images Leaked, E71 Reviewed

Nokia is readying two E-series devices -- the E66 and E71 -- for release soon, as evidenced by press photos shown at the Mobile Phone Helpdesk website.

The shots show the E66, a slider running Symbian S60 Feature Pack 2, a long awaited update to the S60 user interface. Rumors have also peg the E66 with an updated office suite and a 3.2 MPx auto-focus camera.

The E71 will have a QWERTY with the BlackBerry/Treo/Motorola Q format. It will be an update to the Nokia E61i featuring a slimmer profile and increased feature set.

Unlike the E66, the E71 is slated to feature S60 Feature Pack 1. However, it will feature a 320x240 screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and UMTS connectivity.

This smartphone has had not just press shots, but a full review done before its on-sale date. The Boy Genius Report has put together a review of a near-production unit.

The E71 is going to be released in European and N. American 3G flavors. Recent rumors also point to a possible inclusion on the AT&T carrier deck.
