The BlackBerry 8310 is the UK's most popular mobile phone for accessing the internet using the Opera Mini browser, according to a new survey.
Of the top five phones that are the most popular for internet browsing, BlackBerry, manufactured by RIM, occupies three of the top five places according to Opera's State of the Mobile Web survey.
Opera said Sony Ericsson's K800i is the second most popular mobile for accessing the web using Opera Mini. It is followed by the BlackBerry 8100, the BlackBerry 8800 and the Nokia 6300.
"The BlackBerry devices have large screens, perfect for surfing the web, and they also come with good data plans, which is why they're popular in the UK," said Jon von Tetzchner, chief executive of Opera.
However, the 10-country survey revealed a much different picture globally. Nokia's N70 mobile phone was found to be the most popular for internet browsing.
Google has regained top spot as mobile surfers' favourite website, after falling behind to Yahoo last month.
Opera Mini is a Java-based browser that will work on more than 800 different mobile phone handsets, according to the company. It has around 14.5 million users globally.
Apple's iPhone was missing from the list as it uses the Safari browser and no third-party browsers are available to iPhone customers.
